CADET V14​

CADET enables operational personnel to easily compile test programs, automatically protect the test facility against out of limit operation, record data during testing and analyze the data during or at the completion of a test.

Custom functions can be developed by the test engineer (using Visual Basic) to run during the test, these can provide additional calculated data that is stored together with real data from the test bed. The current specification has evolved to the latest generation with input from our own engineers and by working closely with our many end users.

Sierra designs and manufactures all hardware and writes all pc based automotive diagnostic software in house, so we maintain full control of the supply and development chain.

DACS High Performance​

Driven by our passion for constantly improving test cell data access, Sierra-CP introduces our third-generation I/O system. Now configure your core system with our I/O modules over a high-speed field-bus network and deploy additional DACS modules as required.

Need to change your channel mix? Just swap out the internal plug-in modules to reconfigure for the ones you need.  Optimize test sequencing, data logging, control and user interface requirements when you couple your network with our advanced CADET Automation System.

The distributed i/o modules can be positioned where needed within the test cell, even mounted on pallets or trolleys and connected to the relevant sensors as part of the rigging process, before being brought into the test cell an connected to the network.

A variety of connectors can be coupled to the DACS modules and multiple units linked together to support the test requirements. DACS offer up to 4kHz sampling per channel and they are true real time products with distributed clocks. Ensuring all of the data is time aligned in the CADET system. It uses EtherCAT comms and can be operated with your own host platform if preferred.

Specialist Software Development

The open nature of CADET enables additional software tasks to be easily added to the range on offer. Numerous interfaces for 3rd party devices already exist, with more developed as the need arrives.

In addition to interfaces many software tools exist, these include TLS (emissions reporting and calculation product) Transient vehicle simulation, Limit Search DOE software.

Then we have developed several product specific software solutions for specific external products. The BG3 partial flow sampling system, SPNS particle number and an emissions analyser host were all developed using CADET as a basis.

We also develop specific configurations and mimic screens for our own products: ventilation system, combustion air handling units and the boost rig as examples, this provides a more intuitive experience.

Several projects have involved the integration of external modelling products like MatLab or dSpace, you can talk to our engineers directly and create a specification for the works which best suit the way you work and want to interact with the systems.

Legacy Automation Upgrades

A large proportion of Sierra CP’s business is the upgrade of existing facilities. Generally the hardware is still functional but other suppliers Host systems can require significant investment after just a few years of operation.

CADET offers a highly flexible alternative solution to other Hosts with low cost of ownership. Changes to Windows OS are not an eye watering experience with CADET, usually a day visit and small licence fee.

Sierra CP is very capable at assessing the relevant parts of a test facility that need replacing and because we have all the capabilities in house can offer you very cost effective upgrade solutions, may be replacing an EC dyno with an AC solution and upgrading the exhaust extract system, Sierra CP can do all of this for you efficiently and cost effectively.

Example Projects

Xtrac: Advanced Engine & Powertrain Transmission Test Cell Development

To support the future growth of Xtrac’s business they engaged with SCP to supply two test cells to enable EOL quality pass off and future development of existing and new products.

SCP designed and installed two new test cells each with multiple dyno’s which can be positioned to support a variety of test piece configurations.
